We’ve said a huge thank you to our loyal band of volunteers – known as the Cricketeers – at a special event held at Edgbaston Stadium.
Volunteers play a vital role at the Club and we have around 80 people who dedicate time to take on roles including greeters, fundraising, stewarding and kids club support.
Many of our Cricketeers joined us on Tuesday 7 November for a special reception held to show our appreciation for their commitment throughout the season.
The evening started with a fun game before a buffet and panel session where guests got to probe some of Team Edgbaston and hear anecdotes from the likes of Club stalwart and First Team Operations Manager Keith ‘Cookie’ Cook.
Chief Executive Stuart Cain, said: “Our volunteers help out during all our cricket fixtures and community activities. We can’t thank them enough and we wanted to host an event to show them how much we value their support.”
Jane Gripton is a regular supporter greeter in the summer and helps guide people around the stadium at major events.
She said: “Volunteering at Edgbaston is one of the best volunteering jobs for watching cricket. I particularly enjoy interacting and chatting with the fans and helping people find their seats to ensure spectators have an amazing experience.”
And fellow Cricketeer Lois Stanger, who helps on our information points, added: “I love volunteering and being in the fresh air, meeting lots of people and making memorable moments. It was lovely to have an event to recognise the hard work we put in behind the scenes and to feel appreciated in what we do.”
