Hello to all the Bears fans and, first and foremost, I hope you are keeping safe and well in these very difficult times.

Out here in Australia, myself and the other English players are thinking very much of family and friends and everybody back home as another lockdown has begun.

We know how lucky we are to be out here playing cricket and I am so grateful to have this opportunity with Adelaide Strikers, but our thoughts are with you all at home at this tough time. Please stay strong and safe and hopefully, in the summer, we will get back to some sort of normality and will be playing and watching cricket at Edgbaston.

Out here, the Big Bash is getting towards the business end and, encouragingly, the Strikers are building some good momentum at just the right time. We played really well in the win over the Renegades on Tuesday which has lifted us back into the qualification spots.

We put a good total on the board and then squeezed them well with the ball. Rashid Khan has just been excellent in every game and it has been great to bowl in tandem with him. It was also nice to bowl well myself, yesterday. I am pretty happy with my form.

I got X-Factored early on, but have been pleased with my figures in other games. That’s the way it goes in T20 but I think, as a team, we are moving in the right direction at the right time.

The bowling unit has performed pretty well all along. Now one or two more of the batters are standing up and playing match-shaping innings. We have the Renegades again next, at home, and another win would put us in a strong position.

It has been so good to be playing cricket again, and in front of spectators too. The crowds have grown as the tournament has gone on – we had 25,000 in for the game on New Year’s Eve at the Adelaide Oval. It is a fantastic ground and I am just so lucky to have this opportunity and determined to do all I can to help the Strikers to success.

I will be back in touch next week. In the meantime, please everyone in the great Bears family look after yourselves and each other and stay safe.

Danny
