Hello Bears fans. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Well, my Big Bash adventure with the Adelaide Strikers is over after we lost to Brisbane Heat in the playoffs. In a way, the game pretty much summed up our whole campaign. We didn't quite put enough runs on the board and that made it tough to defend.

To be honest, all through the tournament we struggled for consistency. We just snuck through to the knockout stage after qualifying in fifth place. In the end, that inconsistency caught up with us.

So my first taste of the Bash is over and I want to say the biggest possible thank you to everyone at the Strikers. Right from the get go, I was made so welcome and it has been a real pleasure. In terms of both the cricket and also the restrictions caused by the pandemic, everything was superbly organised.

I am pretty happy with the way I performed on the field. I am the sort of person who is never quite satisfied, but I put in some good figures and I think I did okay, especially having suffered a couple of X-Factoring’s early on! I think I was the first player in the Bash to be X-Factored – not the bit of history I was after, but all part of the experience!

As a whole, it was a fantastic experience and I am very grateful to have been lucky enough to have been playing cricket during what is a such a difficult time for so many people in the world. I would love to go back again some time, when the world is more normal. The guys out there who have played in the Bash for years did say it wasn’t quite the same this year. It would be great for me to play a Bash campaign with my family with me and not having it in the back of my mind how everybody at home is getting on in lockdown.

I am already home (with all the travel restrictions around the world, they were brilliant in getting players back to their respective home countries as quickly as possible) and it is lovely to be with my family again. Now comes a few weeks off and then it will be the next adventure, my first season with the Bears.

I can’t wait. I am so excited about my first season as a Bear and trying to help the team bring some success to this great club. Hopefully, the pandemic will be receding and we can get a full season with plenty of cricket with spectators.
