Warwickshire Captain Alex Davies and Vice Captain Ed Barnard have been named in the IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year.

Davies – the third top scorer in the Vitality County Championship Division One with 1,115 runs – claimed one of the opener slots having amassed 458 MVP (Most Valuable Player) points.

Barnard – who’d already won the Metro Bank One Day Cup Player of the Season award – took the seam-bowling all-rounder spot with 481 points ahead of Craig Overton.

The Team of the Year is based on MVP Rankings to provide the best XI from this season’s domestic men’s cricket according to batting, bowling and fielding statistics.

Warwickshire, Hampshire and Essex were the only counties represented twice in the Select XI.

Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson topped the rankings on 635 points to secure the honour of captaining the Team of the Year for the second successive season. Fellow Hampshire player James Vince features for the third year in a row.

The cinch PCA Awards takes place at The Troxy music hall, London on Tuesday (1 Oct) where the best performing players in domestic and international cricket will be recognised.

All players selected in the 2024 IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year receive a personalised winner’s medal.
