Bears batter Davina Perrin has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The 19-year-old will bid to become the first cricketer to win the Young Sports Personality of the Year gong after being nominated following a breakout year in 2025.

Perrin is one of English cricket’s most exciting young talents and comes at the end of a year in which she has broken records and been crowned PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year.

She finished second in the run-scoring charts as the Bears reached the Women’s T20 Blast Finals Day and set a new record for the fastest century by an English woman in The Hundred, coming from just 42 balls while representing the Northern Superchargers.

Her runs in 2025 are not a one off either. She was Central Sparks’ leading run-scorer in the Charlotte Edwards Cup last year, which led to her being selected for the U19 World Cup. She was by far England’s top batter in the competition, awarded player of the match against USA for her 74 off 45, and only India’s Gongadi Trisha scored more runs than her across the competition. Following that success, she received a last minute call-up for England’s A tour of Australia, her first senior international call.

Perrin said: “I’m truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award. It’s a very special feeling and I hope it inspires more young females to get into cricket.”

She will go up against England footballer Michelle Agyemang, who helped the Lionesses win Euro 2025, and darts superstar Luke Littler, who won the World Championship for the first time in 2025 and will be looking to win the Young Sports Personality of the Year award for the second successive year.

The shortlist was compiled by a panel who will also decide the winner. They will be revealed live on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.

The show will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 19:00 GMT.
