Edgbaston is welcoming back 12 famous local mascots this coming Friday evening (27 May) as it hosts the Drayton Manor Mascot Derby.
We’re looking forward to another great night at Edgbaston and hopefully a fourth consecutive victory for the Bears.

Staged during the interval of Birmingham Bears NatWest T20 Blast match against Worcestershire Rapids, the 12 mascots will tackle an obstacle course on the Edgbaston outfield with runners including the resident Hugh and Carmen Bear, Aston Villa’s Hercules, Birmingham City’s Beau & Belle Brummie, Walsall’s Swifty, Wolves’ Wolfie & Wendy, Sting from Wasps RFC, Worcestershire Rapids’ Nile the Crocodile and Drayton Manor’s Rory the Lion.
Alex Perkins, T20 Project Manager at Edgbaston, said: “We’ve made the Drayton Manor Mascot Derby part of our match against Worcestershire Rapids for the last four years, with competition getting more fierce every year.
“Playing our local rivals, in Worcestershire Rapids, is always a great occasion and it’s the first fixture that our supporters look for each year. We’re looking forward to another great night at Edgbaston and hopefully a fourth consecutive victory for the Bears.”
The Drayton Manor Mascot Derby started in 2013 and was won by the home runner Carmen Bear. The last two contests have seen Birmingham’s football rivalry renewed with Villa’s Hercules storming to victory in 2014 and the Blues’ Belle Brummie crowned champion last year.
