The Edgbaston Foundation and Sandwell College have announced a special Taster Day for its newly launched Edgbaston Cricket Education Programme .

Taking place from 1pm to 5pm on Friday 29 October at Edgbaston, the taster day is designed prospective students for the 2022/23 academic year who are seeking a career in professional sport.

Having launched in September this year, the Edgbaston Cricket Education Programme is a collaboration between the Edgbaston Foundation and Sandwell College that is aimed at aspiring male and female cricketers who seek an opportunity to develop a career in the game, which could be in coaching, marketing, sports psychology, nutrition, and a range of other professions.

The programme offers a unique opportunity to learn, train and play cricket at the world famous Edgbaston Stadium and learn from professional coaches staff and players at Warwickshire County Cricket Club. The experience  on the Edgbaston Cricket Education Programme includes:

  • BTEC Level 1-3 in Sport
  • Level 2 Fitness Instructing
  • Level 3 Personal Training
  • Potential progression to University and Careers in Physical Education Teaching, Physiotherapy, Cricket Coaching and Sport Development
  • Training sessions in world class facilities with professional coaches.

 The Taster Day will give prospective students the opportunity to find out more about the programme as well as participate in activities directly linked to the programme.

The day will begin at 1pm, with a lesson that will reflect studies on the programme, with Senior Sports Lecturer Neil Parker in a classroom overlooking the outfield at Edgbaston. This will be followed by a two-hour cricket session in the Edgbaston Cricket Centre with our professional coaches at 3pm.
