Edgbaston Foundation announce Sleepout supporting St Basils

Edgbaston through it’s charity the Edgbaston Foundation is holding the Edgbaston Sleepout on April 27th in aid of St. Basils and several other charities working hard to address the issue of homelessness in Birmingham and Warwickshire.

Homelessness is a major issue within the West Midlands and Birmingham in particular. There are seven times more people sleeping rough in Birmingham now, than there were 5 years ago. Birmingham is in the top ten local authorities for rough sleeping – with 55 per night recorded last year. Pressures on local services are compounding the issue with more rough sleeping expected in the near future.

With homelessness such an important issue in the region, there was a desire to support the hard work of St. Basils and others. What better way than to give people the opportunity to raise funds while sleeping out under the stars at iconic Edgbaston Stadium, the home to Warwickshire CCC, Birmingham Bears and England.

Are you up for the challenge?

The fundraising target is £50,000 and we are seeking approximately 70 professionals to commit to raising £700 on the night of April 27th and bat against homelessness by bringing their sleeping bags and sleeping rough.

On the night there will be tours of the grounds, a chance to have a hit in the nets, a light meal, speeches from special guests before heading out to sleep at the iconic Edgbaston Stadium. As a thank you, sleepers will also receive complimentary tickets to an RL50 fixture at Edgbaston. This is great opportunity to network with other key individuals across the city whilst banding together to address an important cause in the city.
