Edgbaston Foundation, the official charity of WCCC has announced a Community Open Day on Sunday 17 June which it hopes will inspire more local youngsters to get involved in cricket.
The West Indies will be testing their young and emerging stars against Warwickshire CCC in a one-day game at Edgbaston. These ‘friendly’ Tour matches are used to give other national team’s players experience of competition in different conditions and offers their young stars exposure to different types of opposition. Play will begin at 11:00am with the toss taking place at 10:30.
It is completely FREE entry to not only watch cricket stars playing at our world famous stadium, but also there will be plenty happening around the ground starting from 10.00am when gates open. Activities include free inflatable fun games, face painting, health checks as well as a chance for children to have a taster ‘basics of cricket’ session.
A timetable for the day will be released closer to the time, but for now get the date in the diary.
In addition to the activities throughout the day, Warwickshire CCC will also be fundraising for the Edgbaston Foundation, which aims to provide positive educational and sporting opportunities that help disadvantaged young people develop more life skills.
