Bears’ Blasts from the Past will be celebrated at Edgbaston on Friday (14 June) with a reunion of players from the 2014 Blast winning team.
Class of ‘14 players including Jeetan Patel, Boyd Rankin, Recordo Gordon, Josh Poysden, and Olly Hannon-Dalby, plus coaches and backroom staff, will be guests of honour as the Club marks 10 years since the famous Finals Day victory.
They’ll take a seat in the Chair’s Lounge for the T20 double-header that sees Central Sparks vs Lancashire Thunder (3pm) before Bears take on the Yorkshire Vikings (7.05pm).
And the Club legends will also go pitch-side for interviews on the big screen at around 6.45pm in the build-up to game.
Jeetan Patel, Bears’ all-time leading T20 wicket taker, said: “It’s 10 years ago but it still brings a smile to my face when I think back to what we did and how we did it. It was a load of fun.
“It was a group of guys we trusted and loved. It was exciting to come to work. Every job you’re in, someone at work makes you happy to be there, makes you laugh. I had a dressing room full of those people.
“I can’t believe it’s 10 years. I’m really looking forward to reminiscing with the guys and watching the current Bears look to get back to Finals Day this year.”
Bowler Recordo Gordon – whose nine wickets in the campaign helped Bears reach Finals Day – added: “I think we surprised a few people that year. We weren’t known as a T20 side. We’d not won the trophy in 11 years of trying. But we had a good side and we all backed each other.
“When I sit back and think about my career, OK I could have played more, but to be one of few to play for Warwickshire in that campaign, to have contributed to that legacy, it’s a special feeling. I’ll always look back with pride.”
