Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium has announced that tickets for the fifth and final day of England’s opening Test of the Specsavers Ashes Series will be released at 10am on Monday 22 July.

Starting on Thursday 1 August, tickets for the final day, on Monday 5 August, are priced at £25 for adults and £5 for under 16s and will be available from edgbaston.com/tickets or by calling the Ticket Hotline on 0121 369 1994 (opt 1).

Neil Snowball, Chief Executive of Edgbaston Stadium, said: “Whilst the first three days of the Ashes Test match were already sold out, we’ve seen a huge spike in sales for the Sunday since England’s memorable victory over Australia in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final, here at Edgbaston on 11 July.

“With tickets in such high demand and only a very limited number remaining for the Sunday, we wanted to give the final day option to supporters in advance and all tickets purchased have a refund scheme in place in the event of little or no play*.”

Whether it’s the noise bouncing off the stands, I don’t know whether it’s just this ground, but I do feel there’s a great element of support here. It’s always been somewhere I’ve enjoyed turning up to play.

Joe Root

With England’s ODI team having been crowned champions of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup last Sunday, Joe Root’s team will arrive in Birmingham on the back of 11 consecutive victories at Edgbaston across all format.

“You get a real sense of belief from the crowd here, it does make a difference,” said Root speaking ahead of England’s ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final victory over Australia.

“Whether it’s the noise bouncing off the stands, I don’t know whether it’s just this ground, but I do feel there’s a great element of support here. It’s always been somewhere I’ve enjoyed turning up to play.”

*Spectators who purchase tickets for Day 5 of the opening Specsavers Ashes Series Test match will be granted a full refund if 9.5 overs or less are bowled in the day.
