England Bear Amy Jones says she has “so much to thank Warwickshire for” after announcing she’s leaving Edgbaston after almost 20 years at the Club.

Jones – who joined Warwickshire’s Youth Pathway aged 12 – has signed for women’s Tier 1 side The Blaze at Trent Bridge.

She said: “From starting here as a 12-year-old, being part of the Academy, and making my first team debut and experiencing my first overseas cricket tour to South Africa. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support I received from the Club.

“I’d like to thank all the players, coaches and staff who made my time at Warwickshire and Central Sparks so enjoyable and want to wish Ali (Maiden) and Bears Women all the best for the future in what is a very exciting time for women’s cricket.

“Edgbaston will always be a special place to me and my family and I’ll miss having it as my home ground.”

The 31-year-old, who has also played every The Hundred campaign for Birmingham Phoenix, has been a mainstay for England Women since 2018 having won more than 200 caps across all formats.

And she had the honour of playing her 100th WIT20 at her home ground of Edgbaston last May.

Jones has spent the last five seasons with regional side Central Sparks but her appearances have been limited due to international call-ups.

Former Sparks Director of Cricket, now Bears Head of Women’s Cricket, Laura MacLeod said Jones will always be remembered fondly at Edgbaston.

She said: ““Amy was a phenomenal performer for Central Sparks with many highlight moments, most notably the 163 she scored back in 2021.

“She has been a proud product of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, rightly celebrated within the stadium. We’d like to wish Amy well in her move to The Blaze.”

Bears Women have announced their 15-player squad ahead of their first season as a Tier 1 side in a new-look, full- professional national women’s structure.
