Birmingham Phoenix Women have named Eve Jones as their new captain.
The opener replaces Ellyse Perry as skipper, following her withdrawal from the competition with a knee injury.
Perry, named captain earlier this summer, has also been replaced by Australian all-rounder Tess Flintoff. Flintoff, 20, holds the record for the fastest fifty in the Women’s Big Bash League and has already arrived at Edgbaston.

Jones, 30, comes into the role with a wealth of captaincy experience, having led Central Sparks since 2020.
“I feel honoured to represent Birmingham Phoenix as captain,” said Jones. “Edgbaston is my home ground, and as a local girl, it will be a privilege to lead out the side.”
Head Coach Ben Sawyer said: “I’m excited to see Eve take on the captaincy role as I know she’s a perfect fit. Having been part of the group since the very beginning, Eve is a leader and a strong presence within the dressing room, especially with her experience with Central Sparks.”
