We have linked up with FBC Manby Bowdler and Marco-Pierre White to offer fans and members a chance to vote for their Warwickshire County Cricket Club Player of the Month. Our first month have the following nominations.
Sam Hain
Sam Hain was Warwickshire’s leading run scorer in the Royal London One-Day Cup with 456 runs in the group stages at an average of over 65. His 89* got the defending champions off to a winning start against Northants Steelbacks and scored two tournament centuries, Leicestershire Foxes and Derbyshrie where he scored 103 and 109 respectively. He finished the competition with a 55 at Edgbaston against a strong Yorkshire Vikings outfit.
Anisha Patel
Spinner Anisha Patel has taken 11 wickets in the month of May and has been a key player in Warwickshire Women’s unbeaten run of 2017. The team currently top the Royal London Women’s One-Day County Championship and, with performances of 6-56 vs Nottinghamshire and 3-19 vs Sussex, it’s not hard to see why Anisha has been nominated.
Grant Thornton
Grant Thornton has been Warwickshire’s breakthrough star of the season. After joining the Bears from Birmingham League side, Berkswell, Thornton has gone on to feature in both Royal London One-Day Cup and Specsavers County Championship matches, where his performances have earned him praise from club captain Ian Bell and first team coach Jim Troughton. Grant took four wickets on his first-class debut vs Somerset at Taunton and recorded best Royal London One-Day Cup bowing figures of 4-42 vs Worcestershire Rapids at New Road. These two performances sandwiched a three for against Yorkshire Vikings to finish the Royal London One-Day Cup on a high.
Jonathan Trott
Jonathan Trott has been one of Warwickshire’s most reliable and consistent batsman so far this season. Trotty scored 308 runs in the Royal London One-Day Cup, including 104 against Nootts Outlaws and was twice the FCB Manby-Bowlder Man of the Match in May. Jonathan also contributed a massive 175 runs in the Bears last Specsavers County Championship game vs Somerset and is currently seventh in the leading run scorers standing in the Specsavers County Championship.
