Five members of the Warwickshire U17s boys squad head to the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough University this week to represent the Midlands region at the ECB U17s Super Fours Festival.

Academy members Ethan Brookes, Daniel Mousley, Jacques Banton and Ben Griffin, as well as EPP member David Burnell all travel to the annual festival, which involves the best players in the country in their age group, after pleasing seasons for county and club to date.

Prior to a recent shoulder injury, Ethan Brookes made his debut for the WCCC 2nd XI and featured well with both bat and ball.

In the last two weeks, spinner all-rounders Daniel Mousley and Jacques Banton have both made their maiden Birmingham League 1st XI centuries for Kenilworth Wardens and Barnt Green respectively – whilst their form in the U17s ECB Championship form has also been impressive.

Mousley leads the national run scoring rankings for the 2017 U17s season with 785 runs including three 50’s and three 100’s, whilst Banton and Burnell have also scored two and three centuries in ECB competitions respectively.

Knowle & Dorridge ‘keeper Ben Griffin continues to excel with the gloves for Warwickshire and the Birmingham League leaders, as well as making his maiden Warwickshire 100 for the U17’s in a recent three-day match vs Wales.

The selections come two weeks after four Warwickshire players took part in the U15 Bunbury Festival at Millfield School. One of the Bunbury number – Jacob Bethell – took away the Player of the Festival award following a century and fifty, as well as several key wickets with his left arm spin, and some stunning catches.

And with five Warwickshire girls also heading to the School Games next week (the female equivalent of the Super Fours), it has been a bumper year for Warwickshire youth players for regional selection at ECB national festivals.
