Whilst everybody is looking forward to the return of crowds for the LV= Insurance County Championship game versus Nottinghamshire, starting on Thursday 27 May, Warwickshire County Cricket Club has had to make the difficult decision to continue host men’s Second XI games at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground behind closed doors until 21 June at the earliest.
“The Edgbaston Community Sports Ground is an outstanding cricket facility for the Club,” said Warwickshire Chief Executive Stuart Cain. “However, the current set-up of the venue makes it impossible to meet the ECB’s COVID guidelines for professional cricket and the Government’s social distancing and facility requirements for spectators.
“I know that this will disappoint Members and supporters who are keen to watch live cricket. We appreciate their patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming the Bears family back to Edgbaston for the following week’s return to Edgbaston for the LV= Insurance County Championship game against Nottinghamshire in the following week.”
