Bears allrounder George Garton has signed a one-year contract extension after a successful first season at the Club.
The new deal will see Garton – who reached the final of Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) in January with Sydney Thunder – remain at Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2026 campaign.
The 27-year-old took 13 Vitality Blast wickets last summer, contributed more than 100 runs and served up standout moments in the field, including two stunning, direct-hit runouts in the quarter final against Gloucestershire.
The left arm quick said he was happy with his debut campaign but feels Bears fans have yet to see him at his best.
“I feel I settled in nicely, it’s a very welcoming dressing room, there’s a great atmosphere around the place and a desire to get better,” said Garton, who signed from Sussex ahead of last season.
“On the pitch I don’t think I was quite at my best. I didn’t showcase exactly what I know I can do, there’s certainly more to come, but if I can contribute to more wins next season that’ll be brilliant.
“I’ve had a good winter in Sri Lanka and the Big Bash. We lost in the BBL final but it’s only made me even hungrier to win a title with the Bears this summer.
“We should be pushing for titles. Our Blast team is strong and we should be there or there abouts come September. We feel we have the squad to go the full distance.
“I’m really excited to re-sign. I came to Warwickshire fresh last year, it’s a fantastic group. Topping the Blast North Group three years in a row shows the quality, we just need to go a couple of steps further this year.
“I’m focused on putting in some good solid performances for the Bears and to win as many games as possible.”

Garton has 173 career wickets to his name, including 88 in T20, and 675 T20 runs with a Strike Rate of 133.92.
He made six appearances for BBL side Sydney Thunder in January, taking two wickets in the group stage against eventual winners Hobart Hurricanes, and another in the semi final derby versus Sydney Sixers.
Bears First Team Coach Ian Westwood, said: “George is a great lad and I know he is hungry for success with the Bears.
“He’s an exciting player; Bears fans saw that last summer. He can swing the ball at pace, clear the ropes with the bat and is among the finest fielders in the country.
“I’m delighted he’ll be part of our squad for some time to come.”
