Big-hitting T20 cricket is coming to Edgbaston as the Vitality Blast returns from 31 May, which means it’s time to Prepare for the Bears.
This is our campaign set to give Brummies a heads-up about the incoming cricket season – and especially about watching out for those flying cricket balls spotted across the city.
We need to protect everything big and small, including famous landmarks bubble-wrapped for protection which will add a Blast touch to the city’s landscape. From the iconic Bullring to the eye-catching Birmingham Library, no landmark is safe from the playful precautions.
The new season runs from 31 May to 13 July, with nine match days in total including five Bears Men and Women double-headers which is new for 2025. And Early Bird tickets are still available before midnight on 7 May.
These creative efforts aim to engage the local community and ensure everyone is prepared for the Bears as they begin their quests for T20 silverware.
“As Birmingham prepares for the Vitality Blast tournament, we wanted to add a fun and light-hearted twist to returning big-hitting action,” said Beth Peers, Marketing Manager.
“Prepare for the Bears is all about embracing the excitement and, most importantly, the fun of T20 cricket. If we can make people smile and laugh, then that’s what it’s all about and there’s no better place to do that than with friends during the Blast at Edgbaston.
“It’s set to be a special season with the introduction of Bears Women, big name players and memorable match day entertainment at all games, all at an affordable price.”
The new T20 season starts on Saturday 31 May with Blast Off, our annual Family Fun Day presented by The Priory Hospital, and the first time ever that Bears Men and Women will compete on the same day.
Two weeks later, international DJ Joel Corry will headline the first ever MidlandsMania match day, as four local teams go head-to-head in two big T20 games on Saturday 14 June.
The local derby against Worcestershire Rapids, which attracted over 17,000 fans last year, is again set to be the biggest night of the year once again and is not to be missed on Friday 20 June.
