Sam Hain believes his fellow teammates must 'bottle' that incredible feeling they richly deserved against Kent.
With time ticking down, Hassan Ali’s wicket of stubborn Joey Evison in the fading light, deservedly earned Warwickshire their first win of the season.
Thwarted by bad weather, just as they were a week prior when they couldn’t force a win at Taunton, the Bears showed their attacking intent by securing maximum batting points and bowling the visitors out twice.
Members have certainly got used to some dramatic finishes in recent years, though they tend to come with titles and safety on the line This win felt slightly different however and with it being early in the campaign, could be a catalyst for the season ahead.
“I think it makes it into my top ten matches as a Bear,” said Hain. Just everything. “You forget during the winter of how tough it is to win a four day game, so I think we’ve got to bottle it because it’s special. “Obviously it’s early days, but I think we’re playing a brand of cricket that we know and trust.
“There are no weak teams in Division One cricket and we know how tough Division One cricket is. When you get any opportunity we to try and win, we’re going to be there to take.”
With Hassan Ali, Ed Barnard and Chris Rushworth joining OHD and Chris Woakes, a lot of the talk has been on the seamers who are taking regular wickets.
That praise is well deserved, but the batters have an equal case too. Taking maximum batting points against, the batting unit also has four centuries amongst them.
“You take confidence where you can because, this game is very fickle and you’ve got to take the ups and downs. From a personal point of view, I can take a lot of confidence moving forward. I feel like after 100 First Class games I’m getting a fair idea of the way I want to play red ball cricket.
“We’ve got a batting unit that’s still learning, still growing. So, matches like today, we can take a lot of confidence moving forward into the rest of the season.”
