Warwickshire batsman Sam Hain spoke to Brian Halford following his maiden List A century in the Royal London One-Day Cup victory over Leicestershire Foxes at Edgbaston.

“I have just started opening in limited-overs cricket and I am really enjoying the challenge,” he said. “It’s great to get the win on the board tonight and, on a personal note, it’s a lovely feeling.

“In the last couple of years I have been in the red-ball format so now to get into the white ball and release the shackles, so to speak, is nice. I am enjoying it.

“William Porterfield was going at a run a ball so that kept us going when I got a little bit stuck early on. Then Laurie came out firing so I could just keep on doing my thing.

“At the end Loz was going well and we worked out that we had that over from Sykes and Loz said to me from the last ball ‘look you’ve got to go for it this one’ and it worked out well.

“Adjusting between 50 and 20 overs isn’t too difficult really. At the top of the order I get a bit of time and tonight we were chasing a modest total so I could take a little time.”
