Birmingham Bears batsman Adam Hose has secured a winter place in a global T20 tournament by signing for New Zealand side Wellington Firebirds for the 2018/19 Burger King Super Smash.
The opportunity to further my skills in such a competitive league is something I’ll relish.
Adam Hose
Twenty-six-year-old Hose, who joined the Bears in the 2017 season and has scored 670 runs across his first two Vitality Blast campaigns, is the latest Bear to join the Firebirds and follows in the footsteps of England all-rounder Chris Woakes who enjoyed the 2012/13 season at the Basin Reserve. However, the roots between the Bears and Firebirds run much deeper as the home of club captain Jeetan Patel and former Bears’ skipper Grant Elliott.
“I’m really excited to be heading to the Wellington Firebirds for this year’s Burger King Super Smash,” said Hose. “I was really pleased with my Vitality Blast form this season and the opportunity to further my skills in such a competitive league is something I’ll relish.
“The Firebirds have such a strong Bears connection with Jeetan Patel, Grant Elliott and Warwickshire legend Roger Twose and, speaking to both Jeets and Grant this year, I feel there will be no better place to spend my Christmas and winter.”
Hose will fly out to Wellington on Sunday 16 December ahead of the Firebirds’ first game of the Burger King Super Smash away to Northern Knights in Hamilton on Saturday 22 December.
