We have been advised at short notice by Highways England of an additional weekend closure of M6 J6/A38(M) Spaghetti/Gravelly Hill Interchange from  Friday 1 September (8pm) to Monday 4 September (6am). Please allow plenty of time if you are travelling to Edgbaston this Saturday for the NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day.

This is required in order to complete the programme of summer maintenance works and ensure that all restrictions are removed by Monday 4 September.

From 8pm Friday 1 September to 6am Monday 4 September:

  • The A38(M) Aston Expressway will be closed – no traffic will be able to access the Expressway to either enter or leave Birmingham.
  • There will be restrictions to M6 J6. Entry slip roads from Salford Circus onto the M6 northbound and southbound will be open. All other slip roads on and off the M6 at junction 6 will be closed.

We would like to apologise on behalf of Highways England for the short notice in communicating this additional closure to you. We have been assured that this was unforeseen and is unavoidable.

Allow Plenty of Time

We recommend you leave plenty of time and plan your journey when travelling to Edgbaston. For further information on these roadworks, please click here.

When arriving at the stadium, you will also see additional bag searches and individual ‘pat downs’ which will no doubt add a little more time to your entry. With these in mind, we would recommend that fans head to the stadium in plenty of time to avoid any potential traffic issues and the expected match-day queues.

Entertainment Around the Ground

Get down to the Stadium and enjoy the pre-match entertainment and soak up the renonwened Edgbaston atmosphere before start of play. There are a whole host of FREE activities for kids to get involved in. From the Kids Zone (open 9am-3pm on the number one nets opposite the main entrance on Edgbaston Road) that includes a variety of inflatable games, to NatWest’s virtual reality experience and Motorpoint’s F1 simulator, there’s plenty of great entertainment around the ground.

In order to further improve customer experience for all spectators, we have a band playing live music in both our Beach Area and Exhibition Hall during intervals throughout the day – make sure you check them out!
