Aussie allrounder Beau Webster believes he’s in the form of his life as he prepares to join the Bears this summer.

Hard-hitting Webster makes Edgbaston his home at the end of April for a three-month stay that will see him available for the Rothesay County Championship and all of the Vitality Blast North Group games.

The 31-year-old introduced himself on the international stage in January with a stunning Test debut against India. He top scored in the first innings (57) and was unbeaten on 39 second time round when he hit winning runs.

“I feel I’ve been in really good form for a number of years now,” said Webster from his home in Tasmania where he’s playing Sheffield Shield for the state. “I’ve got a good game plan, helped by my years playing First Class cricket, and clarity around my role.

“I’ve always been able to get a 100 or a five-fer but to be able to do it consistently was the challenge. I’ve been very pleased with my consistency in the last few years and hope to take that forward with Warwickshire this summer.

“Warwickshire is one of the Clubs you always look out for. When the Aussies come over and play a Test series at Edgbaston, it’s always one of the most lively grounds, fans love getting behind the players and the support is always good.

“I played in the Blast last year (for winners Gloucestershire) and some county cricket in England. Edgbaston is a fantastic venue, a great wicket. It’s one of the biggest clubs in England so when the opportunity came up to sign for Warwickshire I couldn’t have jumped at it quickly enough. I’m really looking forward to getting over there and getting stuck in.”

Webster has extensive white ball experience in Australia having played Big Bash League (BBL) for Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, and Melbourne Stars for who he signed for the 2024-25 season.

He was a mainstay of Gloucestershire’s push to the 2024 Blast title, hitting 237 runs and claiming six wickets to help them secure a place in Finals Day.

And the 6ft 6ins allrounder – who bowls both medium pace and spin – made four County Championship Division Two appearances, scoring 233 runs (58.25 ave) and taking 16 wickets at 21.25 apiece.

It included a home debut to remember when he returned First Class career best figures of 6/100 against Derbyshire before smashing 76 off just 79 balls.

He added: “I enjoyed my time with Gloucestershire. The Blast is a great competition, very different to our Big Bash with the number of teams and logistics, but it’s enjoyable. I loved it over there, and feel I’ve got a lot I can add to the Bears with both bat and ball.

“I’m proud to be the latest Australian representing the Bears. You look at the overseas signings and there’s always a good contingent of Aussies in England & Wales, especially for the Blast.

“One of my best mates Caleb Jewell signed for Derbyshire; that’ll be an interesting match-up against the Falcons and add a bit extra to the game.

“I know a few of the Bears squad already. I spent a bit of time with Sam Hain in Australia and played against him in the Big Bash. Jake Lintott I played against him last year in a franchise.

“And Al Davies I know through mutual friends. I’ve been messaging him a fair bit about the Club and every time I do I get more excited about coming over.”
