Bethell has impressed in all forms since signing his first professional contract in 2021 following his rise through the Warwickshire Pathway.

The 18-year-old made his full debut last season against Durham in the Vitality Blast, before going on to make both his List A and First-Class bows later in the summer.

Bethell’s promise was noted by England, with the left-hander featuring 14 times for England’s Under-19s. During the 2022 ICC men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Bethell shone as vice-captain firing two half-centuries – including 88 off 42 balls – as England finished runners-up.

In total, the Rugby School pupil has made 21 appearances for the Bears and one for Gloucestershire – where he went on loan earlier this season.

Bethell said: “Edgbaston is my home and I’m delighted to extend my contract at Warwickshire, it’s something I couldn’t turn down.

“I’ve really enjoyed being around the first-team over the last couple of years and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have received, so far. I really want to play my part in bringing success to the county and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Paul Farbrace, Director of Cricket, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Jacob has signed a contract extension with the Club.

“Jacob is just 18, yet he has already made a significant mark at the Bears. He’s a star in the making and a hugely talented player and we’re all looking forward to watching him develop over the next couple of years.”
