Matt Lamb reflects on his Bears career having made the decision to join Derbyshire on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old ends an 18-year affiliation with the county, having joined the Warwickshire Pathway at the Under-9s age group.

“It’s been amazing and an incredible journey,” said Lamb. “I never thought as a nine-year-old boy walking into the Indoor School that I would have played one game, so to have played as many as I have and being part of a winning Championship side is special.

“As I was growing up from the under-9s to under-18s, our starting eleven that played was very similar. Throughout those years you naturally generate a lot of friendships with the players and parents as well.

“Fortunately, I was the only one to breakthrough and play so it’s very special. I did think about that for a few days and it feels like you have to pinch yourself as I’m incredibly proud to have played.

“My family are all Warwickshire and my Grandad used to bring me down here when I was a little kid. I like to think I’ve made them proud for playing as long as I did.”
