The Lord Mayor of Birmingham Cllr Carl Rice welcomed members of Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s playing squad and management team to Birmingham City Council House today in recognition of the Bears’ Royal London One-Day Cup win.
Led by Vice-Captain Jonathan Trott – who won Man of the Match in the eight-wicket victory over Surrey in the Royal London One-Day Cup Final at Lord’s last September – Warwickshire players met with the Lord Mayor and other elected councillors as part of a Civic Reception.

Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr Carl Rice, said: “I was honoured to be able to offer a Civic Reception to Warwickshire’s cup-winning heroes.
“They did the city proud and performed brilliantly to firstly reach the final and then to bring the trophy home.
“The Bears also do a great deal of good in the city away from their exploits on the field and this was a win for every Brummie. Well done to everyone involved.”
Jonathan Trott, said: “The Royal London One-Day Cup Final was a fantastic occasion for Warwickshire CCC, and our Members and fans who travelled in such large numbers to support us at Lord’s.
“It’s great to see our win reflected through today’s kind invitation from the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, and it shows just how important success from our local sports teams is to the city of Birmingham.
“We’re hungry to win more silverware and our attention has turned firmly towards the coming season, with all members of the playing squad back in training since November to ensure that we hit the ground running for our first game on 7 April.”
