Warwickshire County Cricket Club has confirmed the release of Alex Mellor and George Panayi at the end of the season when their contracts end.

Wicket-Keeper/batsman Mellor (28) joined the Bears at the end of the 2015 season from his native Staffordshire and he has gone on to make nine First Class, nine T20 and seven List A appearances to date, and was part of Warwickshire’s victorious Royal London One-Day Cup campaign in 2016.

Fast bowler Panayi (21) came through the club’s pathway, joining the academy as a 14-year-old and signing his first professional contract in the 2016 season. After making his first team debut in the inaugural day/night Championship game versus Lancashire, the former Shrewsbury School pupil has made two First Class and eight List A appearances for the club.

Alex and George are good professionals and have always worn the Bear & Ragged Staff with pride whenever they have represented the club.
