England all-rounder Moeen Ali is looking forward to re-joining his Bears teammates and said he “can’t wait” for Vitality Blast Quarter Finals night at Edgbaston.
Speaking after leading Birmingham Phoenix to The Hundred Eliminator at The Oval tonight, Ali touched on the building anticipation ahead of the crunch game with Gloucestershire on Friday 6 September (7pm).
The 37-year-old said he’s excited about returning to Mark Robinson’s side for the last eight showdown – with a Finals Day date up for grabs.
More than 11,000 tickets have now been sold for the game and it’s set to be a night to remember.
“It’s time to get ready for the blast Quarter Final,” said Ali, who featured in four of Bears’ 14 group games, including his savage top-score of 103 off 59 balls in the last group game against Leicestershire Foxes.
“I still love playing and I want to keep playing. I’ve managed to speak to the Bears a bit during my weeks with the Phoenix and obviously when Phoenix played Brave, I saw Davo [Alex Davies].
“The Bears are a top side. I know the Quarter Final has been a bit niggly over the last few years, so my job is to try to help get us over the line.
“It’s going to be a good game, a big game against Gloucestershire and I can’t wait.”
Ali also played a key part in Bears’ other Blast North Group games, notably at Trent Bridge where he returned bowling figures of two wickets for two runs as Bears dismissed Notts Outlaws for just 57.
