Bears all-rounder Moeen Ali has been named in 14-player squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the preceding four-match Vitality IT20 series against Pakistan.
Mo, who is currently in the IPL with Chennai Super Kings, has played 323 T20 matches to date, scoring 6,313 runs (two centuries) and taking 214 wickets.
An explosive hitter anywhere in the line-up, the 36-year-old will bring a wealth of experience to the group. Mo serves as vice-captain for England in limited overs cricket, having won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022 as well as finishing runner-up in 2016.
For his country, the homegrown Brummie has played 82 T20s, firing 1,154 runs and adding 45 poles.
Selected players, currently playing in the Indian Premier League, will return in time for the series against Pakistan.
Edgbaston hosts the second IT20, and only weekend fixture, on Saturday 25 May 2024. General admissions tickets have sold out, but Premium Tickets and VIP Experiences are still available.
The World Cup squad will fly to the Caribbean on 31 May ahead of England’s opening group match against Scotland at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Wednesday 4 June.
