“I’ve been a Bear as a fan and player all my life. This Club means a hell of a lot to me so to extend my contract at Edgbaston is amazing.”
Bears and England allrounder Dan Mousley has reflected on signing a new two-year contract extension at his boyhood Club.
The deal means Mousley – who has progressed through Warwickshire’s youth ranks and Academy since the age of 10 – will remain at Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2027 season.
The 23-year-old – who made his Warwickshire debut in July 2019 – has played 79 times for the Club, including 44 appearances in the Vitality Blast where he averages nearly 30 and has eight half-centuries to his name.
“It feels brilliant to have signed a new contract,” added Mousley, one of the Bears top wicket takers in the Blast with 36 scalps in the last two summers. “For me there’s no better place to play cricket than Edgbaston. And it’s extra special being a local boy.
“I’ve been to so many Bears games as a kid, watching them play. It’s a wonderful thing to pull on a Warwickshire shirt. To know I’ll be doing it for at least another three seasons means a lot.

“And it’s important for my family as well who’ve backed me all the way.
“They’ve taken me to training at Edgbaston’s Indoor School, to games at Portland Road, to all the away matches, ever since I was little. Me getting that first contract, now this one, is testament to all their commitment as well as mine.
“I’m excited ahead of the new season. There has been change at the Club with Westy now First Team Coach. I know Ian well, he was an Academy coach, we work well together.
“Winning as many games as possible for Warwickshire, and winning trophies, is the focus for me and for all the boys. There’s a good buzz around the place.”

Mousley topped 1,000 Blast runs for the Bears last summer as some standout performances with bat and ball earned him a first senior England call-up.
He featured in four IT20s and three ODIs – where he averages 34.50 having hit a maiden international 50 – on the white ball tour of the Caribbean.
What trophy would ‘Danger Mouse’ most like to get his hands on in 2025?
“A home final in the Blast would be amazing,” he added. “The occasion, the atmosphere, the noise at Edgbaston it would be amazing to be part of.
“But I’m a traditionalist at heart so I would love to win the County Championship. We did it in 2021, I didn’t play but I was around the squad then, it was special. To play a part in winning a championship would be incredible.”
First Team Coach Ian Westwood said it’s “fantastic” news for the Club.
“Dan is a local lad who’s come through the system and loves the Club,” added Westwood. “He’s an exciting three-dimensional cricketer who brings bags of energy to our team.”
