Warwickshire all-rounder Dan Mousley is hoping Sunday’s victory over Somerset in the Vitality Blast can inspire the Bears when they return to Rothesay County Championship action later this week.
Mousley played a starring role as the Bears chased down 215 for victory over the reigning Blast champions at Taunton, scoring an unbeaten 36-ball 71.
The 24-year-old was part of a 145-run stand with century-maker Beau Webster at The County Ground, which proved to be key as the Bears picked up a first win in the competition.
“At half time, we thought they had a good score,” Mousley said. “The boys were fired up in the dressing room.
“We wanted to get ourselves on the board. We’ve just come out second in games and to go there and do the job against Somerset was really, really pleasing.
“I thought the way Slog [Beau Webster] played was unbelievable. It was a pleasure to stand at the other end and watch him go about his business.”
Mousley, who was granted a release from England Lions to play the two Bears fixtures over the weekend, is now hoping the team can take positive momentum into the Rothesay County Championship, where the Bears currently sit second in Division One.
The latest round of fixtures sees Warwickshire travel to Scarborough to take on Yorkshire this Friday, before they return to Somerset the following week.
“To win today and pass that momentum onto the Championship was important, because we’re doing really well in the Championship,” he added.
“We’ve played some great cricket and just to carry that momentum forward into the Championship is something that we actually spoke about before the game against Somerset.
“We’ve got better and better in it. We’re obviously second at the minute, but we really believe that we can go on and potentially win it.
“These two games are massive. We’ve played some really good cricket, some of the bowlers have had a good rest, and we’ll be ready to go on Friday.”
