What a night for Dan Mousley, who deserved all the plaudits.

Needing to defend 138, the spinning all-rounder led from the front taking three wickets and two catches as the Steelbacks closed on 107/9.

But whilst all the attention was on the 21-year-old, the Talbots Law Player of the Match was quick to praise his leadership.

“To get 137 and defend that at Edgbaston we’re over the moon,” said Mousley. “Davo and Mo and spoke in the huddle and It was about okay, we got 137, it’s not as many as we wanted, but we have to make sure that’s what we have to go and defend and that’s what we did.

“Captaincy wise we were outstanding. We knew it was going to spin after watching the first innings, so it was making sure we put that into practice by taking the pace off and using the wicket a little more. We know we’ve got the spinners and it was all about finding a way to win the game, whether that was bowling them out or keeping them below our score.”

Speaking of his own innings, Mousley added: “The ball seemed to follow me around tonight. Funnily enough there was a catch in the first over and I had just moved from deep backward point in the ring and the ball went there. I just want to go out and keep winning games for the Bears.”
