Nottinghamshire 2nd  XI 264-8 (50 overs) beat Warwickshire 2nd XI 245 (48.3 overs) by 19 runs

Nottinghamshire 2 points  Warwickshire 0 points

Warwickshire skipper Laurie Evans won the toss and put Nottinghamshire into bat at Lady Bay and found opening Nottinghamshire batsman Libby in good form after some recent first team experience, making a century before being seventh wicket to fall for 106 from 133 deliveries.

Jones 4-61 from his ten overs, including Libby’s wicket, was Warwickshire’s most successful bowler, with Javid 2-34 while Adair and Gordon each took a wicket.

At 197-6 in the forty second over, Nottinghamshire appeared to be in check, but a late push from Ashraf 41 and Wood 44 including three sixes, helped the home side reach 264-8 from their fifty overs.

In reply, Umeed 23 and Westwood 26 got Warwickshire off to a steady start, before Evans 75 from 77 balls with Ambrose 27 looked to be setting up a victory for the visitors, but despite making starts, Clarke 17, Javid 15 and Thomason 37 including four sixes, couldn’t put together a match-winning partnership and as the middle-order slipped away, fifty eight runs were still needed from the final five overs. Despite Thomason’s efforts the lower order collapsed around him and Warwickshire were dismissed with nine balls remaining, twenty runs short of their target.
