Pakistan have named a 17-man squad for the four-Test series against England next month.

The squad will be captained by veteran Misbah-ul-Haq, who led Pakistan to a 2-0 series win over England in the UAE last winter, while opener Mohammad Hafeez has been selected subject to his full recovery from a knee injury sustained two months ago.

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has also been named in the red-ball squad, subject to visa approval, for the first time since returning from a spot-fixing ban. Since returning from his suspension last September, the 24-year-old has been a regular feature in Pakistan’s one-day and Twenty20 sides but has yet to make his return to Tests.

The team is expected to  hold a training camp in Hampshire before their first match against Somerset starting on 5 July and another against Sussex from 8 July.  After the first Test at Lord’s, the Test tour continues to Manchester (22 July), Birmingham (3 August) and The Oval (11 August).

Pakistan, playing in their adopted UAE home venue, secured victories in Dubai and Sharjah after the opening Test draw in Abu Dhabi.
