The series against the West Indies saw India bounce back from their World Cup campaigns with records being broken consistently throughout.
India had their joint-highest total for a Women’s ODI of 358/5, matching their score against Ireland of 358 for 2. Harmanpreet’s side reached a total of over 300 runs three times in 2024 which is the most for them in a year.
During the innings a whopping 47 boundaries were made, which is the most from India in an ODI hitting 43 fours and four sixes.
Mandhana shone during the series leading to her topping the most runs across women’s international cricket with an astounding 1602 runs in 2024, over taking Laura Wooldavart of South Africa.
India’s bowlers also broke records with Zaida James and Renuka Thakur both taking 5-wicket hauls in the same match (5-45 and 5-29 respectively), this is only the fourth time this has happened in Women’s ODI cricket.
India also had a record night in the IT20s scoring their highest total of 217, which also is the highest score across all Women’s T20Is in India.
In form Smriti Mandhana didn’t disappoint getting her 30th fifty-plus score in IT20s placing her at the top of the women’s list ahead of New Zealand’s Suzie Bates. Eight of those 30 have come in the 2024 international season, the most fifties in a calendar year in the IT20s.
The records don’t end there for Mandhana, she totals 763 runs for the 2024 season which is the highest in the IT20s, followed by Chamari Athapathtu with 720.
Richa Ghosh also stunned with the bat, getting 50 off 18 balls, the fastest fifty in women’s T20Is joint with Sophie Devine and Phoebe Litchfield.
India’s fans will be excited by the form of their sides going into an important 2025 international season. Can Jon Lewis’ side derail the India successes when they head to England in the summer?
