Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Rothesay County Championship fixture at Edgbaston Stadium against Glamorgan will aim to showcase the very best of red ball cricket, with several initiatives in place set to both bring a new audience to the game, and celebrate the players and people at the heart of the Club.
Taking place from Friday 15 May to Monday 18 May, the Bears will be looking to continue their fine start to the 2026 campaign on the field, all whilst former players, long-standing members and over 1000 school children from the local area watch the action.
The Bears currently sit top of the Rothesay County Championship table through four games of the season, having picked up a first win of the season in impressive fashion against Essex before pushing last year’s champions, Nottinghamshire, all the way at Trent Bridge just last week.
Warwickshire will be looking to continue that momentum with the visit of Glamorgan, and they will be buoyed on Friday 15 May by over 1000 children in the stands. As part of Schools Day, over 1000 tickets have been distributed to school groups in the surrounding area to Edgbaston, as the Bears look to inspire the next generation of fans and cricketers.
Former Players Day takes place on Saturday 16, with three legends of the Club having already confirmed their attendance and more set to join on the day. Dennis Amiss, who spent his entire 27-year career with Warwickshire and is the Club’s leading first class run scorer with 46,218 runs in 919 first-team games, will be joined by Geoff Humpage, who fired 24,317 runs including 32 centuries across a remarkable 26-year career, and Asif Din, who amassed 14,873 runs for Warwickshire in 460 outings. On the same day, there will also be free ticket entry for all as part of the County Cricket Day Initiative.
Day three will belong to long-standing members, with Member Recognition Day emphasising the importance of those who have backed the Bears for a prolonged period of time. Members attached to Warwickshire for 50 years will be invited to a lunch and receive a coveted badge as part of the recognition scheme.
On the final day of action at Edgbaston, Monday 18, free tickets will be available for all fans that want to come along to support the Bears.
