The Universities skipper, Lilley won the toss and chose to bat, but quickly found the Warwickshire opening attack of Hannon-Dalby and Brookes to be in top form, reducing the visitors to 19-4 in the seventh over before Morris 31 and Dickinson then added 116 runs in 26 overs before Gordon broke the partnership.
Hannon-Dalby completed a five for with the wickets of Davis and Maciver, but Dickinson completed his century and with some impressive hitting was last man out for 185 from an identical number of deliveries, with 26 fours and 3 sixes.
Hannon-Dalby finished with 6-71 and Gordon 3-52 as the Universities’ innings closed on 322 from 72.4 overs
In reply Warwickshire reached stumps on the opening day on 100-0 with Porterfield 38* and Westwood 49*.
Westwood was dismissed for 63 on the second morning, but Evans 63 joined Porterfield and the second wicket pair took the total on to 224 before Evans followed.
Porterfield completed his century but only Thomason 39 provided any support as the innings closed on 389 with Porterfield making 137.
Trailing by 67 runs, the Universities’ opening pair of Azad and Bullen wiped out that deficit and with Bullen and Cullen making half centuries supported by Dickinson 39 and Leverock 48 and with time lost for rain, the second innings closed on 290 setting Warwickshire a target of 224 for victory.
Singh 4-94 and Parker 3-32 were the most successful bowlers.
With only eight overs possible in their second innings, Warwickshire closed the drawn match on 18-0.
