Report: Warwickshire v Northamptonshire, Second XI
Ethan Brookes led with the bat as Warwickshire emphatically despatched Northamptonshire by an innings and 83 runs at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground.
The all-rounder, who was tasked with opening the batting, struck 147 (263 balls, 17 fours, one six), as the Bears reached 512 from 112.4 overs after dismissing the visitors for just 237.
Choosing to bat, Northants were put under significant pressure by a bowling attack that included Manraj Johal (3/46), plus the recovering Danny Briggs and Craig Miles.
Miles, who would also add 71 with the bat, is inching closer to a return following a hamstring injury. Captain and ‘keeper Chris Benjamin also added 110 (159 balls, nine fours) to help the Bears reach that mammoth target.
Needing 275 just for parity, the Warwickshire unit dismissed Northants for just 192 in 50.2 overs. With Danny Briggs returning to the starting XI, Jake Lintott took over the spinning department, closing with figures of four for 20.
