Report: Warwickshire v Somerset, Second XI Championship
Warwickshire Second XI endured a disappointing start to their Second XI Championship campaign with a 490-run defeat to an experienced Somerset at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground.
Bowling first, Warwickshire restricted the visitors to 118 for six, before an impressive century from captain Ben Green (129*) turned proceedings in their favour. Reaching 342, the Bears were bowled out for 64 in their response and were never able to claw their way back into the game.
Opting to not enforce the follow-on, Somerset declared on 386 for four with further centuries from first team stalwarts Steven Davies (130*) and George Bartlett (140*) to leave the hosts with a 664 run lead.
In reply on the final day, the Bears reached 174 as George Maddy top scored with 47.
