Report: Warwickshire v Worcestershire, Second XI
Warwickshire dismissed local rivals Worcestershire in a tight, low-scoring Second XI Championship fixture at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground.
Academy product Isaac Mohammed struck a cool, unbeaten 72 (eight fours, two sixes) to see his side home on the final day, chasing 209 – the joint-highest score across the four innings.
Winning the toss and choosing to field, the Bears bowled out their neighbours for 161 with Michael Booth closing on 6/43 from 11.2 overs. But any aspirations of a dominating lead were dashed.
From 44/1, the hosts reached 162, with Liam Norwell’s 31 at number nine – the second-highest score of the innings, giving the Bears a slender one-run lead.
An enjoyable contest in beautiful sunshine, Booth impressed again (4/51), finishing with a 10-fer, to set the 209 target, before closing out the job with the bat.
Mohammed’s hard work set the Bears up seven down, but Booth secured victory with three fours from four balls.
