First Team Coach Mark Robinson heaped praise on his side as the Bears secured a day four win over Nottinghamshire at Edgbaston.

In an enthralling contest, Warwickshire set the Trent Bridge outfit a victory target of 309 in 74 overs and a dominant bowling performance from the Bears after lunch saw the visitors bowled out for 138 with eight overs to spare.

“I am,” Robinson said when asked is he’s proud of his players. “The three wins have been similar in that they’ve gone to wire really.

“It was a great wicket, as was the Essex wicket, and the one thing about playing on wickets like that you need the weather help you out and allow you to go four days.

“We saw with Worcester it didn’t, but those are the type of surfaces you want to play on. That’s going to produce England players and not games that are two-and-a-half days.

“The one thing we’re showing is some guts and resilience, because we’re not perfect. We get ourselves in pickles at times, but what we’re managing to do is hang in games and have different people bailing us out and get us in safer waters at different times.

“Lamby marshalled us in the back end of the first innings and that great tenth-wicket partnership (Liam Norwell and Olly Hannon-Dalby) gets us the lead and that was the difference between the two teams at the halfway point.”

The stand out performer on the final day was Danny Briggs.

The spinner reached his second Bears half-century before a decisive spell of 24.3-14-36-4 led the Bears to a 22 point haul.

“Briggsy was outstanding today, not only with the bat but with the ball,” Robinson added.

“He could have chosen another club and concentrated on white ball, but he wants to play red ball and play for England.

“He’s come here to play and have days like this where you have the opportunity to win a game for your county on the last day on a slightly wearing wicket. He’s doing what he dreamed of doing.”
