Second XI Report: Hampshire v Warwickshire
Warwickshire beat Hampshire by five wickets inside three days in the Second XI Championship at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
After Hampshire’s first innings was restricted to 164 (Tim Bresnan four for 31, Michael Booth three for 49) the Bears seized a lead of 132 by replying with 296.
Ed Pollock smashed 103 (77 balls, 20 fours, two sixes) before Ethan Brookes (92, 147 balls, 15 fours) and Bresnan (43, 81, six) added 118 for the fifth wicket.
Bradley Currie (three for 44) and Booth (three for 67), supported by Bresnan and Manraj Johal who took two wickets apiece, then bowled the home side out for 253 to leave a victory target of 122.
Second time round Pollock fell early for just two and there was an early wobble to 22 for three but Brookes (34), Bresnan (21 not out) and Max Tryfonos (26 not out) steadied the ship and closed out a comfortable victory at 124 for five.
