Warwickshire 2nd XI continued their excellent form this season as a potent mixture of seam and spin sent Surrey hurtling to an innings-and-40-run defeat at Portland Road.

After the Bears 2nd XI declared on their overnight 348 for nine (Dominic Sibley 64, Liam Banks 63, Alex Mellor 38, George Panayi 38, Will Rhodes 37, Matt Lamb 33) the bowlers got to work and took 20 wickets in a day.

The pace bowlers did the damage first time round as Surrey were bowled out for 132 by Adnan Ghaus (four for 22), Chris Wright and Olly Hannon-Dalby (both two for 31).

The visitors then fared little better in their second innings, managing just 176 as Josh Poysden took four for 35 to complete match figures of 16-7-38-5.

Will Rhodes chipped in with three for 49 with his medium pace as the Bears wrapped up victory on the second day of the scheduled three-day friendly.
