Second XI Report: Warwickshire v Worcestershire
A brilliant unbeaten 153 from Adam Hose steered Warwickshire to victory over Worcestershire in their opening Second XI Championship game of the season at Portland Road today.
An enterprising approach from both teams enabled a contest to be created from the heavily rain-affected game as Worcestershire declared at 340 for six to leave the Bears a testing target of 341 in 80 overs.
They reached that target comfortably thanks principally to Hose whose classy 153 came from 149 balls and included 15 fours and six sixes.
The chase was given a strong foundation by second-wicket pair Liam Banks (52 from 55 balls) and Ed Pollock (46 from 64) who added 96 in 18 overs.
Hose then arrived at number four and put Warwickshire in total command of the equation in alliance with Alex Thomson (44, 98 balls six fours).
After they added 122 in 30 overs, Hose saw his side home with further support from Aaron Thomason and Alex Mellor and a hugely impressive victory arrived with eight overs of the 80 available overs to spare.
