Second XI T20 Report: Worcestershire Rapids v Birmingham Bears
Birmingham Bears 2nd XI completed a brace of victories, by 49 runs and 42 runs, over neighbours Worcestershire Rapids in back-to-back T20 friendlies at Stourport.
The first game saw the Bears pile up 176 for three thanks to Matt Lamb (57 not out, 41 balls), Ed Pollock (45, 34) and Alex Mellor (37 not out, 26).
Worcestershire’s reply never escaped the shackles applied by a tight collective bowling effort. George Garrett took two for 13, George Panayi took two for 18 and Alex Thomson two for 21 as the Rapids were restricted to 127 for eight.
Lamb was in good form again in the second game with 77 (52 balls, ten fours, two sixes) which, supported by Michael Burgess (34, 25 balls) lifted the Bears to 165 for six. The Rapids were then bowled out for 123, their pursuit undermined by four for 29 from trialist spinner Zafar Gohar.
