Paul Stirling was incredibly modest after starting his Bears journey with a bang.

Making his debut in front of a partisan Edgbaston crowd, Stirling manoeuvred around a rain delay to strike a career best of 119 (51 balls, nine fours, ten sixes).

It was an incredible innings and just the third T20 century for the Bears, but speaking to the Ireland international it seemed that he was taking it in his stride.

“I suppose you never know how your first game is going to go,” Stirling said. “As a team point of view it couldn’t have gone much better and personally it was nice to score a few runs.

“It was my first experience (Edgbaston) and it was really good. I’ll look forward to it as the campaign moves on and hopefully it’ll get louder and louder.”
