Stratford-Upon-Avon is being renamed ‘Batford-Upon-Avon’ to mark the start of Warwickshire Bears’ 2026 Vitality Blast campaign.

Batford-Upon-Avon’s name change is one of several activations as part of a special week in the cricketing calendar, with fans encouraged to prepare for the Bears.

The Bears get their silverware challenge under way on Friday 22 May with both men’s and women’s teams on the road, before Blast Off is set for take off at Edgbaston Stadium on Sunday 24 May.

Blast Off will see the first of four double-headers this summer at The People’s Home of Cricket, with both Bears’ teams entertaining Somerset.

Beth Peers, Warwickshire Bears Marketing Manager, said: “The Bears are taking over! We would like to thank Batford-Upon-Avon council who were really receptive to the name change.

“We want to make sure everyone is ready for the Bears this summer, and this was great way to do just that. Blast Off is one of the great days on the cricketing calendar and this year will be no different.

“There will be plenty for fans of all ages to get involved with. We would encourage everyone to get behind the Bears and come along for a great day at Edgbaston.”

On the pitch, former England player Chris Woakes will be in action, and international stars Georgia Redmayne and Usman Tariq will showcase their skill.

Off it, there will be a dedicated kid zone, a climbing wall will be in operation for all ages to try, West Midlands Fire & Rescue will be in attendance and there will be a performance from the cast of Legally Blonde, to name just a few.

Tickets for Blast Off on Sunday 24 May remain on offer at £15 for adults and £5 for U16s.
