Stuart Barnes has decided to leave Warwickshire County Cricket Club at the end of the 2025 season, bringing to a close three seasons working with the Bears.
Barnes joined the club ahead of the 2023 season under former First Team Coach Mark Robinson and has since worked closely with Ian Westwood as the new Head Coach. During his time at Edgbaston, he has played an important role in developing Warwickshire’s fast-bowling group, supporting senior professionals and guiding young bowlers as they transition into the professional game.
Highlights of his time include seeing the squad continue to develop, with players earning international recognition, working alongside a number of outstanding overseas professionals, and supporting younger bowlers as they moved from academy into the rookie and professional squads. He also contributed to three successful pre-season tours to Abu Dhabi, helping prepare Warwickshire across formats.
Commenting on his decision, Barnes said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with Warwickshire over the past three seasons. It’s been a privilege to work with such talented players and staff, and in particular to help young fast bowlers understand what it takes to perform at the professional level and to represent the Bears. Emily, the family and I have also decided the time is right to relocate and move closer to our wider family. I’d like to thank Mark Robinson for initially bringing me in, and Ian Westwood for his support and leadership this season. Warwickshire is a special club with a bright future, and I wish everyone at Edgbaston the very best moving forward.”
