Aaron Thomason blasted a blistering unbeaten century as Birmingham Bears 2nd XI recorded two wins in back-to-back T20 friendlies against the North Staffs and South Cheshire League XI at Porthill Park.

Thomason staked his claim for a first-team recall following injury with a brilliant 100 not out to lift the Bears to a 24-run win in the second match. He faced just 63 balls and hit seven fours and seven sixes to lift Birmingham to 176 for five.

Alex Thomson then took four for 41 as the home side was bowled out for 152.

Earlier, Thomason showed good form with the ball, taking two for 21 as the league team was restricted to 131 for six.

Fast bowler Olly Stone bowled a full four-over stint as he nears the end of his injury lay-off.

The Bears completed a four-wicket win as they reached 133 for six with 20 balls to spare thanks to Calvin Dickinson (44 from 39 balls) and Matt Lamb (28 from 28).
