Jonathan Trott’s autobiography Unguarded is one of 12 nominees for Best Sports Autobiography of the Year to be
awarded at the 2017 Cross Sports Book Awards.
Unguarded, which is available in-store from the Shop at Edgbaston at £20, provides a unique perspective on a remarkably successful period in English cricket and its subsequent reversal, whilst also offering a fascinating insight into the rewards and risks faced as a sportsman carrying the hope and expectation of a team and a nation.
It’s a salutary tale of the dangers pressure can bring in any walk of life, and the perils of piling unrealistic expectations on yourself.
The 2016 Cross Sports Book Awards event featured books from a host of outstanding sporting greats including National Hunt’s greatest rider in Sir Anthony McCoy, Nigel Mansell, Steve Davis, Steven Gerrard and Sky commentator and former Lancashire and England cricketer David Lloyd all shortlisted for the prestigious headline award.

The winner of the Autobiography of the Year will be announced at the 15th Cross Sports Book Awards Ceremony, which takes place at Lord’s on May 24th 2017. The ceremony features 12 other award categories and is filmed for a highlights programme shown on Sky Sports over the following few days.
The final shortlist for the award will be announced alongside those from all the other categories in the Cross Sports Book Awards on April 27th 2017.
